The National Stock Exchange (NSE), on March 19, 2025, issued a notification regarding the Revision in Expiry Day of Index Derivatives contracts.
The NSE International Financial Service Centre (NSEIFSC) has issued a notification revising the expiry days for Index Derivatives Contracts. This change, effective from April 4, 2025, modifies the existing expiry schedule for both weekly and monthly/quarterly futures and options contracts. As per the new guidelines, weekly options contracts will now expire on Mondays instead of Thursdays, and monthly & quarterly contracts will expire on the last Monday of the respective month or quarter instead of the last Thursday.
The revised expiry date will be applicable from April 3, 2025 (end of the day). All new contracts created for trading on or after the effective date will follow the new expiry day schedule. The first monthly expiry after the change will occur on April 28, 2025. Additionally, members are instructed to update their contract files before trading on April 4, 2025. Further details regarding the settlement schedule will be provided by NSE IFSC Clearing Corporation Limited (NSEICC).
