Industry Specific ComplianceThe Government of Karnataka on March 18, 2025, issued a discussion paper on determination of tariff and norms in respect of Solar Power Projects (including Solar Rooftop Photovoltaic Projects) for FY26.

The following has been stated: - 

•The discussion paper invites stakeholders to provide feedback on the determination of tariffs and norms for Solar Power Projects, including Solar Rooftop Photovoltaic (SRTPV) Projects, for FY26. It references key provisions of the Electricity Act, of 2003, and the tariff rates determined for FY25. 

•The Commission's Tariff Order dated June 11, 2024, set specific tariff rates for solar power projects for FY25, effective from April 01, 2024, to March 31, 2025. 

•Tariffs for grid-connected megawatt-scale solar projects were Rs. 3.04 per unit and Rs. 5.66 per unit for those with BESS. Tariffs for solar rooftop projects varied from Rs. 2.25 to Rs. 3.79 per unit, depending on the capacity and subsidy eligibility. 

•These rates apply to projects commissioned after April 01, 2024.

•The Commission seeks suggestions on improving solar energy adoption and tariff frameworks. Comments can be submitted to the Secretary, KERC, by April 15, 2025.
