The Government of India (GoI) on March 19, 2025, issued the notification regarding the approval of the Revised National Program for Dairy Development (NPDD)
The following has been stated namely: -
• The scheme focuses on modernizing dairy infrastructure, including milk procurement, processing capacity, quality control, and supply chain efficiency, benefiting farmers with better market access and higher incomes.
• Component A aims to improve dairy infrastructure (e.g., milk chilling plants, testing labs), while Component B focuses on dairy cooperatives, with support from Japan’s JICA in nine Indian states.
• The Revised NPDD will establish 10,000 new Dairy Cooperative Societies, generate 3.2 lakh new jobs (70% for women), and support White Revolution 2.0 by improving rural livelihoods and building a resilient dairy industry.
