The Government of Kerala on March 19, 2025, issued the notification regarding the Provision of Basic Facilities for Security Personnel.
The following has been stated namely: -
• Employers are to ensure basic facilities for security personnel working in commercial and business establishments, as well as open spaces.
• These facilities are necessary to safeguard their well-being and ensure better working conditions.
• Employers must provide seating arrangements, umbrellas to protect against adverse weather conditions, and drinking water for security staff. For employees working in hot and harsh weather conditions, employers should also provide day/night reflective coats, hats, umbrellas, drinking water, and safety glasses in accordance with safety standards.
• Security personnel must receive minimum wages, overtime pay, appropriate leave, and other employment benefits.
• Employers must also ensure that their establishments are registered under the Wage Security Scheme.
• Failure to comply with these guidelines will result in strict action against employers.
