The Government of Karnataka on March 18, 2025, issued the Karnataka Gram Swaraj and Panchayat Raj (Amendment) Bill, 2025, to further amend the Karnataka Gram Swaraj and Panchayat Raj Act, 1993.
The following has been stated namely: -
• After section 199A, which states that “Revision of taxes and rates”, a new section 199B shall be inserted, namely:- "199B - Issue of a new account or PID for properties”.
• After section 199A, which states that “Revision of taxes and rates”, a new section 199C shall be inserted, namely:- 199C - Taxes on building and unconverted land or converted land but not on revenue land without the approval of the layout.
• It states that the State Government can make orders to resolve difficulties in implementing the Act, within two years, and these orders shall be presented to the Legislature.
