Industry Specific ComplianceThe Government of Karnataka on March 18, 2025, issued the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (Amendment) Bill, 2025, to further amend the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike Act, 2020.

The following has been stated namely: -

• Section 225 – “Power to declare any street as public street” shall be substituted. It states that the Zonal Commissioner may declare a private street as a public street if it endangers public safety, upon notice and consideration of objections, provided it connects to a public road.

• Section 226 - “Power of the Zonal Commissioner to Order work to be carried or carried out himself in default”. It states that if a private street is not declared public but requires improvement, the Zonal Commissioner may direct owners to carry out necessary work, and if not done, execute it at their expense, recoverable as property tax arrears, with an option to declare the street public upon owners' request.

• Section 248 shall be substituted. It states that the Zonal Commissioner may order the sealing of unauthorized construction or premises before or after a demolition order, prevent its use, and only remove the seal by official order, with no appeal allowed against the sealing.
