Industry Specific ComplianceThe Government of Maharashtra on March 20, 2025, issued the Maharashtra Highways (Amendment) Bill, 2025, to further amend the  Maharashtra Highways Act, 1955.

The following has been stated namely: -

• In section 18, sub-section (3), after the proviso, a new proviso shall be added and shall be deemed to have been added with effect from March 01, 2025, namely:- “Provided further that, the State Government may extend the said period up to one year, if it thinks that the circumstances exist justifying the same: Provided also that, any such decision to extend the period shall be recorded in writing and the same shall be notified in the Official Gazette and the Land Acquisition Officer shall cause the substance of the notification to be published in two local newspapers, one of which will be in a vernacular language.".

• Under section 15 (2) which states that between 1st March 2024 and 31st March 2024 due to the lapse of one year, will be deemed to remain in effect for an additional year from the commencement of the Maharashtra Highways (Amendment) Act, 2025.

• It states that any actions or decisions made under these notifications during the period they were deemed inactive will be considered legally valid and cannot be challenged in court or before any authority because the notifications were not in effect.
