CBIC issued the amendment to notification regarding the Duty free re-import of cut and polished diamonds

Finance & Taxation ComplianceThe Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) on March 20, 2025, issued the amendment to notification no. 09/2012-Customs dated March 09, 2012 which states “Duty free re-import of cut & polished diamonds into India after certification/grading by the laboratories / agencies as notified in the Foreign Trade Policy”

The following has been stated namely: -

• In condition (v), for the proviso, the following proviso shall be substituted, namely: - 

“Provided that a variance not exceeding ± 0.05 mm in diameter for round shape diamonds and ± 0.07 mm in length and breadth for diamonds of other shapes, variance not exceeding ±0.01mm in height and variance not exceeding ± 1 cent in weight shall be allowed.”
