The Ministry of Culture (MoC) on March 20, 2025, notified regarding the Aadhaar Authentication for Artists' Registration and Empanelment.
The following has been stated namely: -
• It has launched the Artists Repository Portal to create a secure, Aadhaar-verified database of artists across various art forms in India. The Central Government, in consultation with UIDAI, has permitted the Ministry to use Aadhaar authentication for artist registration and empanelment under the Aadhaar Authentication for Good Governance Rules, 2020.
• It states that authentication will be performed using Yes/No and e-KYC verification and will remain voluntary. The Ministry shall obtain consent from Aadhaar holders, inform them of alternative identification options, and ensure that no service is denied for refusal or inability to undergo authentication.
