The Government of Maharashtra on March 21, 2025, issued the Maharashtra Educational Institutions (Regulation of Fees) (Amendment) Bill, 2025, to further amend the Maharashtra Educational Institutions (Regulation of Fee) Act, 2011.
The following has been stated namely: -
• In section 4, a proviso shall be inserted – “Provided that the parents who are interested in being a member of the Executive Committee must have the written recommendation of at least 5% of the total number of students."
• Sub-section (3) of section 6 shall be substituted. It states that the Executive Committee shall approve the proposed fee within 30 days, display details in relevant languages, allow parents 15 days to submit objections and make necessary changes, and if dissatisfaction persists, parents may file a complaint with the Divisional Fee Committee with at least 15% parental support.
• In section 9, after clause (i) of sub-section (1), the following additional clause shall be inserted: - “(ii) Number of students”.
