The Labour Welfare and Skill Department, Govt. of Tamil Nadu on March 12, 2025, issued a draft amendment to the Tamil Nadu Shops and Establishments Rules, 1948.
The following has been stated namely: -
• It states that after rule 16-C, a new rule shall be inserted, “16-D. Annual Return. – Every employer of an establishment shall furnish a combined annual return under section 47-A, through the designated web portal of the Labour department, to the Inspector of the area in which the establishment is located in Form–ZC on or before 31st day of January in each year”.
• It states that after Form–ZB, a new Form shall be added, “FORM–ZC (See rule 16-D) COMBINED ANNUAL RETURN FOR THE YEAR ENDING 31ST DECEMBER 20…”.
• Any objection or suggestion to these draft amendments will be taken into consideration on or before May 12, 2025, addressed to the Secretary to Government, Labour Welfare and Skill Development Department, Secretariat, Chennai-600 009 through the Commissioner of Labour, Chennai-600006.
