The Ministry Of Commerce and Industry (MoC&I) on March 24, 2025, issued the Hinges (Quality Control) Order, 2025.
The following has been stated namely: -
• It states that the order does not apply to domestically manufactured goods for export or up to 200 imported goods per year for research and development by hinge manufacturers, provided they are not sold commercially and are disposed of as scrap.
• It states that the manufacturers shall maintain year-wise records of such imported goods and submit them to the Central Government on their letterhead, signed by an authorized signatory.
• It states that any person violating the provisions of this Order will be penalized under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
• The given Table lists various types of hinges along with their corresponding Indian Standards and implementation dates.
