The Transport Department, Delhi on March 21, 2025, issued directions for "No PUC Certificate" to vehicles without third registration mark in compliance to Hon'ble Supreme Court Order dated January 27, 2025 in W.P.(C) 13029/1985.
The following direction have been stated:
• The SMS presently being issued by the Operation Branch, shall be suitably revised, also incorporating the direction that no PUC Certificate shall be issued to vehicles not affixed with third number plate.
• It shall be explored (in association with IT Branch) how issuance of PUC through the software can be denied to vehicles not affixed with third number plate. Even if PUC gets issued, its updation on Vahan should be barred, if the third number plate is not updated in system.
• ALL the PUC Centres shall be directed not to issue PUC Certificates to the vehicles found without third number plate.
• Proposal for publicity of this order of the Supreme Court, through electronic and print media, shall be put up immediately.
