The Ministry of Communications on March 26, 2025, issued a notification regarding PM-WANI scheme progress and details.
The following has been stated: -
•The PM-WANI framework aims to expand internet access through public Wi-Fi hotspots across India. As of March 20, 2025, there are 2,78,439 PM-WANI-compliant hotspots.
•Public Data Offices (PDOs) partner with aggregators to deliver internet services, with compliant hardware available from C-DOT and its partners. The initiative supports Digital India’s growth.
