The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) on March 26, 2025, issued the Environment (Protection) Second Amendment Rules, 2025 to further amend the Environment (Protection) Rules, 1986.
The following amendments have been stated:
• In Schedule-I, the serial number 1 that states ‘Caustic Soda’ and the entries relating thereto has been amended.
• In Schedule-I, serial number 28 and the entries relating thereto shall be omitted.
• In Schedule VI, in Part B “Wastewater Generation Standards”, the serial number 5 and the entries relating thereto has been amended.
• In Part C “Load based Standards”, after serial number 3 and the entries relating thereto, the serial number 4 that states ‘Caustic Soda’ has been inserted.
They shall come into force on the expiry of a period of 1 year from the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. i.e., March 26, 2025.
