The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD) on July 23, 2025, issued the Draft Veterinary Health Certificate for Import of Gelatine Derived from the Bones or Skins of Bovine/Porcine (other than Wild/Feral) into India.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The Draft Veterinary Health Certificate outlines sanitary and documentation requirements for importing gelatin derived from bovine/porcine bones or skins (excluding wild/feral sources) into India.
• It mandates that the raw material comes from healthy animals slaughtered for human consumption, free from diseases like FMD, ASF, and Anthrax, and processed under approved heat treatment methods. Proper hygiene, traceability, and safe packaging are essential.
• Post-import, the consignment will be examined by India's Animal Quarantine and Certification Services. Non-compliance may lead to rejection or further action by the Department.
