The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) on August 07, 2025, issued the Inland Waterways Authority of India (Classification of Inland Waterways in India) (Amendment) Regulations, 2025.
The following amendments have been stated:
• In regulation 3, for sub-regulation (4), the following sub-regulation shall be substituted, namely: -
“(4) In the case of construction of water intake, berthing jetty or floating terminal, the structure of such construction shall be free from navigation channel at least for the distance specified in column (3) of the table below, in respect of the category of national waterways specified in the corresponding column (2), of the said table.
The table has been attached to the document below.
They shall come into force from August 07, 2025.
