The Assam Pollution Control Board (APCB) on August 28, 2025, issued a notification regarding the publication of a revised list of White Category Industries.
The following has been stated: -
•The Assam Pollution Control Board (APCB), following CPCB’s directions under the Water Act, 1974, and Air Act, 1981, has notified the revised list of White Category industries (Annexure-I) exempted from Consent to Establish and Operate.
•The categorization is based on recommendations of the Board’s Empowered Committee.
•Any modification, expansion, or modernization by such units requires prior Board approval.
•APCB may take legal action under the Water Act, Air Act, or EPA, 1986 if a White Category industry is found causing pollution or environmental hazards.
