Industry Specific ComplianceThe Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) chaired by the Prime Minister, on October 01, 2025, approved an increase in the Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for all mandated Rabi crops for the Marketing Season 2026-27. This decision aims to ensure remunerative returns to farmers while strengthening the Union Government’s policy of fixing MSP at least 1.5 times the all-India weighted average cost of production, as announced in the Union Budget 2018-19.

The highest absolute increase has been granted to Safflower at ₹600 per quintal, followed by Lentil (Masur) at ₹300 per quintal. For Rapeseed & Mustard, Gram, Barley, and Wheat, the MSP has been raised by ₹250, ₹225, ₹170, and ₹160 per quintal respectively. Accordingly, the MSP for wheat has been fixed at ₹2,585 per quintal, barley at ₹2,150, gram at ₹5,875, lentil at ₹7,000, rapeseed & mustard at ₹6,200, and safflower at ₹6,540 per quintal for RMS 2026-27.

These revised MSPs provide significant margins over cost of production: 109% for wheat, 93% for rapeseed & mustard, 89% for lentil, 59% for gram, 58% for barley, and 50% for safflower. The measure is expected to assure farmers of profitable prices, support crop diversification, and strengthen the rural economy.
