EHS ComplianceThe Government of Kerala on October 14, 2025 issued directions restricting the sale and use of fireworks to ‘green crackers’ during Diwali celebrations in the state. The order was implemented following the guidance of the Kerala State Pollution Control Board and in compliance with the rulings of the Supreme Court of India and the National Green Tribunal (NGT) to control environmental pollution and reduce air quality deterioration during festivities.

Under the order, the use of green crackers is permitted only for a limited duration of two hours, between 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM on Diwali day. This time restriction is aimed at curbing excessive air and noise pollution while allowing citizens to celebrate in an environmentally responsible manner.

Additionally, the notification strictly prohibits the bursting of crackers within 100 meters of designated quiet zones, such as hospitals, courts, educational institutions, and places of worship. The state government has instructed local authorities and law enforcement agencies to ensure strict adherence to these restrictions.
