The Arunachal Pradesh State Electricity Regulatory Commission (APSERC) on September 15, 2025, notified the APSERC (Renewable Purchase Obligation and its compliance) Regulations, 2025 (Third Amendment) to amend the Renewable Power Purchase Obligation and its Compliance Regulations – 2012.
The following has been stated: -
•The amendment updates Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) targets for Arunachal Pradesh from 2024-25 to 2029-30, with total renewable energy targets increasing from 29.91% to 43.33%.
•Distributed renewable energy requirements are halved for the state, with the balance added to other renewables.
•Compliance can be met through direct energy purchase or certificates, and shortfalls will attract penalties under the Energy Conservation Act, 2001.
•APEDA is designated to monitor compliance and submit quarterly reports.
These Regulations shall come into force on September 15, 2025.
