The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) on November 04, 2025, issued a notification regarding amendments to the Electronics and IT Goods (Compulsory Registration) Order, 2021.
The following has been stated: -
•The Government has updated safety standards under the 2021 Order, replacing IS 13252:2010 and IS 616:2017 with the new unified IS/IEC 62368: Part 1: 2023 standard.
•A new product category, “Extended Reality Products (AR, VR, MR, etc.)”, has been added at Serial No. 65.
•For these XR products, concurrent use of old and new standards is allowed till May 01, 2026, and for all other goods till November 01, 2028, after which the old standards will be withdrawn.
