The Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) on September 18, 2025, notified regarding the Voluntary Green Rating of Industries (VGRI).
The following has been stated namely: -
• Voluntary Green Rating of Industries (VGRI) is a framework designed to encourage industries to adopt sustainable practices beyond mandatory compliance.
• It evaluates sectors based on parameters such as energy efficiency, waste management, emissions reduction, water conservation, and environmental governance.
• The rating promotes transparency and motivates industries to improve performance through benchmarking and public disclosure.
• Overall, it aims to build a culture of environmental responsibility and support India’s transition toward greener industrial growth.
