Industry Specific ComplianceThe Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department Assam (AHVD), on November 11, 2025, notified the amended Policy for Commercialisation of Poultry Sector in Assam, 2024 under Clause 10.2 of the principal policy. The amendment aims to strengthen the regulatory and incentive framework governing the poultry sector and has been issued with the approval of the Hon’ble Minister, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department. The revised policy is annexed to the notification and forms an integral part thereof.

The amended policy reiterates the State’s commitment to developing a robust, self-sufficient, and competitive poultry sector by addressing existing challenges and unlocking growth potential. It focuses on attracting private investment, enhancing production capacity, improving infrastructure such as feed mills, breeding farms, processing units, and cold storage, and promoting innovation and adoption of modern technology. Emphasis has also been placed on improving quality standards, food safety, market access, and environmentally sustainable practices.

The policy shall come into force from the date of its approval and remain operational for a period of five years. It defines key terms such as new enterprise, expansion, capital expenditure, working capital, and various categories of poultry farms, while laying the foundation for targeted incentives to promote commercialization. Overall, the amendment seeks to position Assam as a leading poultry hub in India, contributing to food security, employment generation, rural income enhancement, and long-term economic growth.
