The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (MoAFW), on December 31, 2025, issued a notification amending an earlier notification relating to notified seed varieties under the Seeds Act, 1966.
Exercising powers under Section 5 of the Seeds Act, 1966, and after consultation with the Central Seed Committee, the Central Government has amended the notification dated October 8, 2024. Through this amendment, additional States have been included for the sale of certain notified seed varieties listed at serial numbers 86, 108, and 109 in the Table appended to the earlier notification.
The amendment expands the geographical applicability of the concerned seed varieties by permitting their sale in several additional States, including Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and various Himalayan and North-Eastern States, thereby facilitating wider access to quality seeds and supporting regional agricultural needs.
