The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (MoCAF&PD) on December 31, 2025, issued a notification regarding Sugar Stock Holding and Compliance Directions for January 2026.
The following has been stated: -
•The Director, Directorate of Sugar & Vegetable Oils has directed all sugar producers using the vacuum pan process to hold white/refined sugar stock up to January 31, 2026, as per prescribed stock calculations.
•Sugar mills must complete ERP/SAP integration with the NSWS portal and submit the December 2025 P-II return through API by January 10, 2026, failing which future release quotas may be denied.
•Group sugar companies may maintain stock limits either unit-wise or at the group level, with January 2026 sale and dispatch limits based on notional stock as of December 31, 2025.
•Mills must ensure 20% mandatory jute packaging compliance, and any violation of this order will attract penalties under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955.
