The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) on January 02, 2026, issued an order regarding the Revocation of actions under Stage III ('Severe' Air Quality of GRAP and intensifying actions under Stage-I & II of modified Graded Response Action Plan.
The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), following directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court, issued a modified schedule of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) on November 21, 2025 for immediate implementation across the NCR. At present, actions under GRAP Stages I, II, and III had been enforced through earlier orders dated October 14, 2025, October 19, 2025, and December 13, 2025 respectively.
After reviewing the current air quality situation and forecasts from IMD/IITM, the Sub-Committee on GRAP noted a significant improvement in Delhi’s air quality due to strong winds and favourable meteorological conditions. The AQI was recorded at 236 on January 02, 2026, and forecasts indicate that air quality is likely to remain in the “poor to very poor” category in the coming days.
In view of this improvement, the Sub-Committee decided to revoke Stage-III (Severe) actions of GRAP with immediate effect. However, construction and demolition sites that were closed due to specific violations will remain shut unless explicitly permitted by the Commission. Actions under Stage-I and Stage-II will continue to remain in force and must be strictly implemented and monitored by all concerned agencies across the NCR.
The Commission emphasized continued vigilance, considering unfavourable winter conditions that could worsen air quality again. Citizens have been urged to strictly follow the GRAP Stage-I and II citizen charter. The Sub-Committee will closely monitor the air quality situation and review it periodically to take further action based on AQI levels and weather forecasts.
