The Labour Department, Govt. of Puducherry on December 15, 2025, notified regarding the Daily and weekly working hours under the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The notification prescribes limits on daily and weekly working hours in the Union Territory. It provides that no worker shall work for more than 48 hours in a week, and the total spread-over of working hours, including rest intervals, shall not exceed 12 hours in a day.
• Further, no worker shall work for more than five continuous hours without a rest interval of at least 30 minutes.
• The daily working hours may be adjusted in accordance with these conditions, ensuring that the weekly working hours remain within the prescribed limit.
