The Labour Department, Puducherry on December 15, 2025, issued the notification regarding the Safety Conditions for Employment of Women in Hazardous and Dangerous Operations in Puducherry
The following has been stated namely: -
• Women working in processes involving dust, fumes, or impurities must be provided with suitable protective equipment such as respirators or masks.
• Women shall not work near moving machinery unless they are wearing proper safety apparel to prevent bodily injury.
• Separate and suitable seating arrangements must be provided for women who are required to work standing, to allow rest during work.
• As far as practicable, women should not be employed in workplaces with poor ergonomics that may harm their safety or health.
• Employers must inform women workers about hazards and health risks of hazardous or dangerous processes, in both the local language and English.
