The Government of Meghalaya on September 10, 2025, issued the Meghalaya Town and Country Planning Act (Amendment) Bill, 2025, further to amend the Meghalaya Town and Country Planning Act, 1973.
The following has been amended, namely: -
• In Section 2 - "Definitions", after sub-section (16), the following sub-sections shall be inserted:
o (17) Town and Country Planning Scheme
o (18) Town and Country Planning Officer
o (19) Local Area Committee
o (20) The Director
o (21) Tradeable Development Right
• After chapter IV, a new chapter IV A, with a title "Town and Country Planning Scheme" shall be inserted.
