The Government of Karnataka, on January 07, 2026, notified the Karnataka Labour Welfare Fund (Amendment) Act, 2025, further to amend the Karnataka Labour Welfare Fund Act, 1965.
The following has been stated: -
•The Karnataka Labour Welfare Fund Act, 1965, has been amended to reduce the coverage threshold from establishments employing more than fifty persons to ten or more persons.
•Section 7A(3) has been updated to allow online payment modes such as Net Banking, NEFT, RTGS, and UPI, in addition to demand drafts, for fund contributions.
•The Government is empowered to issue orders to remove difficulties in implementing the Act, provided they are not inconsistent with its provisions.
•Such orders can be issued only within two years from the commencement of the amendment and must be laid before both Houses of the State Legislature.
It shall come into force at once.
