The Transport Department, Nagaland, on December 10, 2025, notified the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act, 2023.
The following has been stated: -
•Section 177A of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, earlier non-compoundable, was made compoundable by amending Section 200 through the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act, 2023.
•The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways notified January 13, 2025, as the date for enforcement of this amendment (Notification No. S.O. 227(E)).
•Accordingly, offences under Section 177A are now compoundable under Section 200 by officers empowered by the State Government vide notification dated November 12, 2020.
