The Government of Karnataka on January 07, 2026, issued the Bombay Public Trust (Karnataka Amendment) Act, 2025, further to amend the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950.
The following has been stated namely: -
• Section 4 - “Appointment of Charity Commissioner and Joint Charity Commissioner” shall be substituted. It states that the Regional Commissioner, Belagavi Region, shall be the Charity Commissioner, and the Deputy Commissioner of the concerned district shall be the Joint Charity Commissioner.
• Section 5 (2) shall be substituted, “(2) The Assistant Commissioner of the concerned sub-division shall be the Deputy Charity Commissioner.”
• Section 5 (2A) shall be substituted, “(2A) The Tahasildar of the concerned Taluk shall be the Assistant Charity Commissioner.”
