The Karnataka State Legislature, on January 8, 2026, notified the Karnataka State Road Safety Authority (Amendment) Act, 2025, following the assent of the Governor on January 7, 2026.
The amendment has been enacted to further modify the Karnataka State Road Safety Authority Act, 2017, with immediate effect, as part of the State’s continuing efforts to strengthen the statutory framework governing road safety administration.
The key change introduced by this amendment is the omission of the words “not more than one thousand rupees” from sub-section (1) of Section 13 of the principal Act, thereby removing the specified monetary ceiling provided therein.
