The Karnataka State Legislature (KSL), on January 8, 2026, notified the Karnataka State Universities (Second Amendment) Act, 2025, following the assent of the Governor on January 7, 2026, as published in the Karnataka Gazette (Extra-ordinary). The Act amends the Karnataka State Universities Act, 2000.
The amendment provides for the substitution of the name “Ranichannamma University” with “Kitturu Ranichannamma University” wherever it appears in the principal Act. This change is intended to reflect the correct and complete nomenclature of the University as recognised by the State.
The Act has been brought into force with immediate effect, ensuring uniform usage of the revised name across all statutory, administrative, and legal references under the Karnataka State Universities Act, 2000.
