The Central Depository Services (India) Limited (CDSL), dated January 08, 2026, has informed Depository Participants (DPs about the identification of Beneficial Owners (BOs) eligible for the Basic Services Demat Account (BSDA), in reference to earlier CDSL communiqué dated August 26, 2024, and SEBI Circular dated June 28, 2024.
The list of BSDA-eligible BOs has been prepared based on data shared between CDSL and NSDL as of December 31, 2025, considering the revised eligibility parameters. The key eligibility criteria are as follows:
• Demat accounts under Individual, Non-Resident Individual, and Foreign National categories
• Total value of securities not exceeding ₹10 lakh, including debt and non-debt securities, as on December 31, 2025
• Only one demat account of the first holder across depositories where verified PAN is available (this condition is not applicable to PAN-exempt BO IDs)
CDSL has made available a consolidated file with the naming convention “BLNG<DPID>_BSDA_DEC2025.tar” in the respective billing folders of DPs. This package contains detailed lists of eligible BOs, PAN-exempt BOs, BOs having multiple demat accounts, and a comprehensive list of all BO accounts with their current BSDA status and eligibility indicators.
DPs are advised to review the files carefully, unmark BSDA status for ineligible or multiple-account cases using the BO modification upload facility, and inform the concerned BOs accordingly. It is also noted that eligibility information for BSDA opted-out accounts will not be shared for data provided from November 2024 onwards.
For any queries or clarification, DPs may contact the CDSL Helpdesk at [email protected] or through the IVR number 022-6234 3333.
