Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of Mines, on January 07, 2026, issued a notification regarding additional proposals in the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026.

The following has been stated: -

•The Ministry has issued an additional proposal under the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026, following the public consultation notice dated January 01, 2026.

•The proposal invites comments from the general public, State/UT Governments, mining stakeholders, and industry associations.

•The additional proposal seeks to reduce the time allowed for operationalisation of mines under Section 4A (4) of the MMDR Act, 1957.

•It proposes the removal of the State Government’s power to grant a one-year extension beyond the existing two-year period for commencement of production and dispatch.

•Comments/suggestions on the original and additional proposals may be emailed in MS-Word format on or before January 22, 2026.
