Commercial ComplianceThe Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) on January 07, 2026, issued an amendment to the older notification no. CMD-2/G18 dated August 05, 2021, regarding marking fees for the Indian Standards, allowing concessions for Micro-Scale Enterprises (MSEs) and Startups/Women Entrepreneurs.

The following has been amended, namely –

• The amendment revises the Schedule relating to marking fees by substituting the existing entry at serial number 899 with updated rates for IS 14756:2024 and by inserting a large number of new serial numbers (from 1710 onwards) covering various Indian Standards.

• These newly inserted entries prescribe revised marking fees differentiated for large enterprises and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), along with unit-wise slab rates and specified effective dates.

• The amendment aims to rationalise and update marking fees applicable to different products and standards under the BIS certification framework.
