The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), on December 26, 2025, with reference to circular dated January 16, 2025 (attached below in the document) on the Simplification of Joint Declaration Process, has decided to accept the Transgender Identity Certificate/Card issued through the National Portal for Transgender Persons as a valid document for effecting change in Name and Gender in EPFO records.
Accordingly, the Transgender Identity Certificate/Card shall be treated as an included document in the List of Acceptable Documents (Annexure II) to the earlier circular. All Regional Offices have been directed to take note of this update and facilitate member requests based on this documentation.
