The Government of Tamil Nadu, on January 09, 2026, issued a notification regarding EPR Registration for Plastic Packaging.
The following has been stated: -
•MoEF&CC notified EPR Guidelines for plastic packaging under the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016, mandating producers and related entities to manage plastic waste.
•PIBOs, SIMPs, and Plastic Waste Processors must register on the CPCB Centralized EPR Portal to fulfill recycling and end-of-life obligations.
•Registration with complete details must be completed on the EPR Portal by January 31, 2026, failing which action will be taken under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.
•To support compliance, TNPCB has set up an EPR Cell and conducted training, workshops, and published guidance materials.
