Industry Specific ComplianceThe National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), on January 12, 2026, has issued an order for computation of the retail price of a formulation under Paragraph 5 of the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013, based on May 2025 data. The decision pertains to Each Film Coated Bilayered Tablet containing Metformin Hydrochloride IP 500 mg (sustained release) and Myo-Inositol IP 600 mg, manufactured by M/s Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Ltd. and marketed by M/s Zydus Healthcare Ltd.

The retail price has been worked out after examination of the submitted data and applicable norms under DPCO, 2013. While the claimed price by the company was ₹35.00 per tablet (excluding GST), the worked-out and proposed retail price has been determined at ₹23.59 per tablet (excluding GST), in accordance with the prescribed pricing methodology.

Accordingly, the proposed retail price of ₹23.59 (excluding GST) shall be applicable for the said formulation, subject to compliance with the provisions of DPCO, 2013 and other applicable guidelines issued by NPPA from time to time.
