The Central Depository Services (India) Limited (CDSL), on January 12, 2026, issued a communique informing Depository Participants (DPs) about the Trading Holiday on January 15, 2026, declared by stock exchanges on account of the Municipal Corporation Election in Maharashtra, as notified by BSE and NSE.
In partial modification of its earlier communique dated December 16, 2025, CDSL clarified that Inter-Depository Transactions (IDTs) between depositories shall be discontinued on January 15, 2026, being a trading holiday. Accordingly, no penalty shall be levied for non-movement of payout securities on that day, the CDSL system will not permit setup or upload of IDTs with execution date as January 15, 2026, and Delivery Instruction Slips (DIS) for such inter-depository transfers should not be accepted.
However, CDSL systems shall remain operational for all other transactions, including setup or upload of future-dated IDTs on the said trading holiday. Depository Participants have been advised to disseminate this information to their Trading Members, Clearing Members, and clients, and to initiate necessary back-office arrangements.
