Commercial ComplianceThe Government of Andhra Pradesh on January 12, 2026, issued amendment to the Andhra Pradesh Legal Metrology (Enforcement) Rules, 2011.

The following amendments have been stated:

• In the sub-rule (4) of Rule 11, the following shall be substituted namely;-

"(4) Every licence granted to a manufacturer, repairer, or dealer shall be valid till 31st December of that calendar year and may be renewed for a minimum period of Two/Three Calendar Years to Five /Ten Calendar Years by the Controller or such other Legal Metrology Officer as may be authorized by him in this behalf on payment of such fee for each calendar year as specified in the Schedule IV.

Provided that an additional fee at full the rates specified in the Schedule IV shall be payable by the applicant if he is permitted by the Controller to make an application for the renewal of a licence within a period of three months from the date of expiry of the licence.

Provided that an additional fee at full the rates specified in the Schedule IV shall he payable by the applicant if the application for the renewal of a licence within a period of thirty days before the date of expiry of the licence."

• In sub-rule (1) of Schedule IV which states ‘Licensing and Renewal Fees for Manufacturers, Repairers or Dealers of Weights and Measures’ in Rule 11 has been substituted.

• In sub-rule (8) of Rule 11, shall be omitted.

• In sub-rule (8) of schedule VI in Rule 11 shall be omitted.

The said draft amendments will be taken into consideration by the Government on or after expiry of fifteen days (15) days from the date of publication of this Notification in the Andhra Pradesh Gazette.

Any objections or suggestions which may be received any person with respect thereto before the expiry of aforesaid period will be considered by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. Objections and suggestions should be addressed to the Commissioner and Ex-Officio Secretary to Government, Consumer Affairs, Food & Civil Supplies Department, Andhra Pradesh, Civil Supplies Corporation Building, Ashok Nagar, Kanuru, Bandar Road, Vijayawada-520 007.
