The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, on January 13, 2026, issued a notification amending Notification No. 36/2001-Customs (N.T.) dated August 3, 2001, under sub-section (2) of section 14 of the Customs Act, 1962, to revise and update the tariff value tables applicable to specified goods.
The amendment substitutes Table-1, Table-2 and Table-3, prescribing tariff values for commodities including crude and refined palm oil, palmolein, crude soybean oil, brass scrap, gold, silver, and areca nuts. The notification clarifies that the revised tables largely retain existing tariff values (no change) for the listed items, while continuing the valuation framework for precious metals where concessional customs benefits are availed.
The notification further provides that these amendments shall come into force with effect from January 14, 2026, and will be applicable for customs valuation and duty assessment purposes accordingly.
