Commercial ComplianceThe State Government of Chhattisgarh, on January 8, 2026, issued a notification under clause (a) of sub-section (1) of section 9 of the Indian Stamp Act, 1899, providing for a reduction in stamp duty applicable to instruments covered under Article 13A of Schedule I-A of the Act.

Through this notification, the stamp duty rate has been reduced from 0.25% of the amount (subject to a maximum of ₹25,000) to a flat rate of 0.05%, thereby significantly lowering the stamp duty burden on such instruments and facilitating ease of transactions.

The reduced rate shall be effective from the date of publication of the notification in the Official Gazette, and the order has been issued by the Government in the name of the Governor of Chhattisgarh.
