The Government of Punjab on January 14, 2026, issued the Punjab Land Revenue (Amendment) Act, 2025 to further amend the Punjab Land Revenue Act, 1887.
The following amendments have been stated:
• In section 13, in sub-section (1), in the proviso,-
o for clause (iii), the following clause shall be substituted, namely:- (iii) no order of remand shall be passed by the appellate authority;"; and
o Explanation under clause (iv) shall be omitted.
• In the principal Act, in section 19, for sub-section (1), the following subsection shall be substituted, namely:-
"(1) Except in the cases of uncontested mutations, a Revenue Officer may summon any person whose attendance he considers necessary for the purpose of any business before him as a Revenue Officer."
• In section 31, after sub-section (2), the following sub-section shall be added, namely:-
"(3) Digitally signed land records and Revenue Court Orders shall be legally valid for all intents and purposes."
• In the principal Act, in section 117, at the end, for the sign ".", the sign ":" shall be substituted and thereafter, the following proviso shall be added, namely:-
"Provided that the mode of partition shall conform to the standard format and principles notified by the Financial Commissioner. Any deviation shall be permitted only through a speaking order recording the reasons for such deviation."
• In the principal Act, in section 121, in sub-section (1), for the Explanation, the following shall be substituted, namely:-
"Explanation- (1) A partition shall be taken to be complete on an order passed under section 118. (2) The limitation of sixty days from the date of order passed under section 118 shall start from the date when the copy of said order is uploaded on online platform as may be notified by the Financial Commissioner."
It shall come into force on and with effect from January 15, 2026.
