The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on January 16, 2026, notified regarding the new FEMA Framework for Export and Import of Goods and Services.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The RBI has comprehensively reviewed the existing regulatory framework governing export and import of goods and services under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), 1999, and has issued the Foreign Exchange Management (Export and Import of Goods and Services) Regulations, 2026, to promote ease of doing business, particularly for small exporters and importers.
• Effective from October 01, 2026, the Regulations empower Authorised Dealers (ADs) to provide faster and more efficient services while ensuring strict compliance with FEMA, related rules, regulations, RBI directions, and the prevailing Foreign Trade Policy.
• All references to RBI shall be routed through the PRAVAAH portal, and any doubtful transactions are required to be reported to the Directorate of Enforcement.
• Upon implementation, the existing Master Directions on export and import of goods and services, along with specified circulars, shall stand superseded.
