The Department of Handicrafts, Textile and Coir, Govt. of Goa on January 15, 2026, notified regarding the Aadhaar Requirement for availing benefits under Vishwakarma Kaushal Yojana.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The Government has notified the mandatory use of Aadhaar for establishing the identity of beneficiaries availing benefits under the Vishwakarma Kaushal Yojana, administered by the Department of Handicrafts, Textile and Coir.
• In exercise of powers under Section 7 of the Aadhaar Act, 2016, artisans seeking training, stipends, or remuneration under the scheme are required to undergo Aadhaar authentication or furnish proof of possession of Aadhaar. Where Aadhaar has not yet been assigned, beneficiaries shall apply for enrolment, and until Aadhaar is allotted, alternative identity documents as specified in the notification may be used.
• Special provisions ensure that no child is denied benefits due to a lack of Aadhaar, with identity and guardian relationship verified through prescribed documents.
• The notification also provides for exception handling mechanisms, offline verification methods in case of authentication failure, enrolment facilitation by the government, and wide publicity of Aadhaar requirements.
