Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) on January 16, 2026, issued a notification regarding Biomass-Based Green Heat: Roadmap for Decarbonising MSMEs.

The following has been stated: -

•Bioenergy can significantly reduce carbon emissions in MSMEs by replacing fossil fuels used for industrial steam and heating, according to MNRE and GIZ.

•The MNRE–GIZ report outlines a sector-specific roadmap for adopting biomass-based green heat in industries like textiles, food processing, chemicals, and foundries.

•It highlights India’s vast biomass potential to cut emissions, support rural livelihoods, and strengthen clean energy supply chains.

•The report recommends policy measures such as biomass deployment obligations, biomass exchanges, standardized steam contracts, and stronger supply-chain coordination to accelerate adoption.
