The Department of Transport, Government of Himachal Pradesh on January 09, 2026, notified regarding the SOP and Subsidy Terms for Conversion of Diesel/Petrol Taxis to E-Taxis under Rajiv Gandhi Swarozgaar Start-Up Yojna (RGSSY)-2023.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The Government has issued the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), eligibility criteria, terms, conditions, and priority criteria for granting subsidy support to convert existing diesel/petrol taxis into electric taxis (e-taxis) under the Rajiv Gandhi Swarozgaar Start-Up Yojna (RGSSY)-2023.
• Under the scheme, eligible taxi owners may receive a 40% subsidy on the cost of an approved electric taxi, subject to overall ceilings and conditions specified.
• The SOP outlines transparent procedures for application invitation, eligibility verification (including vehicle and owner criteria), selection priority, subsidy disbursement, and implementation monitoring.
• The notification and SOP are effective immediately upon publication in the Himachal Pradesh Rajpatra and aim to promote self-employment and environmentally friendly mobility solutions in the State.
